Racist Leader Calls to Deport ‘Disloyal’ MKs Odeh and Cassif

Racist MK Itamar Ben-Gvir called Tuesday for the deportation of Hadash two lawmakers and others “who are disloyal to the State of Israel” to Europe, declaring during a radio interview that he would promote such a policy if included in the next government. “It is our duty to deport [such a person] from here, to deprive them of their citizenship and to fly away from here,” he told Army Radio, promising that he would work to “pass a deportation law for people like Ayman Odeh,” the head of the Joint Arab List, as well as lawmaker Ofer Cassif.

“When we form the government, I will promote the Deportation Law, which will deport anyone who acts against the State of Israel or IDF soldiers,” Ben-Gvir said in the interview. “Those who work against the state like [Joint List MK] Ofer Cassif will be deported. Maybe to Europe. They need working hands there.” Ben Gvir said deportees would be transferred on “trains, planes, whatever you want.”

Ben Gvir on Monday night that his far-right Otzma Yehudit (“Jewish Force”) party will run independently in the November 1 general elections, after previously running as part of the fascist Religious Zionism party. He accused party leader Bezalel Smotrich of failing to negotiate on another joint run-in good faith for a continued partnership. Otzma Yehudit is made up of disciples of the late fascist rabbi Meir Kahane, whose Kach party was banned from running for the Knesset due to its racist principles.

The Abraham Initiative nonprofit, which promotes equality between Jews and Arabs in Israel, wrote: “The parties seeking to form a government must not legitimize Ben Gvir’s deportation plan.”
