With strikes and demonstrations doctors and healthcare workers took to the streets demanding support and funding for public hospitals.
In Athens workers from the public hospitals in Attica held one of the most massive rallies of recent years.
The cadre of PAME and president of OENGE- National Federation of Public Hospital Doctors- A. Retziou referred to the three years of pandemic, that “despite the government’s narrative for the strengthening of public health units, hospitals are sinking from the shortages in infrastructure, equipment and staff”. She made special reference to the new bill on secondary care released yesterday by the government, which destroys the rights of both health workers and patients, literally turning the people’s right to free health services into an illusion.
With pulse and determination, the healthcare workers stated that they will not take a step back and will escalate with the National General Strike of November 9.
