Yesterday November 2, the class unions of Athens held simultaneous mobilizations at the offices of electricity companies. “Cheap electricity for all the people. The many will not freeze to warm the profits of the few” was the message they sent once again with their initiative, demanding measures against energy poverty and at the same time calling for mass participation in the General strike on November 9.
The unions are demanding a drastic reduction and cap on tariffs, abolition of VAT on fuel and energy, as well as cancelation of the Energy Exchange and the trade in pollutants taxes. Stop power cuts to families unable to pay for it, reconnect to the cut electricity power, with the only condition being agreement to settle debts on favourable terms for the people, with no advance payment and many low instalments to pay the bills. No interruption of electricity and gas supply to school facilities.
