In particular, on 8 March 1857 in New York, textile and clothing workers were mobilized against the inhumane working conditions and low wages, claiming their political and labor rights as equal between men and women.

Nowadays, the ruling class is making an enormous effort to lose its political importance through its commercialization. For EDON, this day is a point of reference for reflection, looking back in history, and the struggle against the oppression and dual exploitation of women workers in capitalism.

We are in the century that has been characterized as the century for the emergence of the role of women, which means equality, equity, mutual respect, equal opportunities and rights for both sexes. In Cyprus, the Pancyprian Federation of Women's Organizations (POGO) succeeded in its struggles with great conquests for women, their place in society and their rights.

As EDON, we participated in the mobilization in honor of the Women's Day organized by POGO and the Women's Office of PEO on March 6 with the slogan "No to Disparities, Not to Discrimination", during which a resolution was issued to the Minister of Labor.

EDON will continue to be at the forefront of the struggles to eliminate inequalities and the struggle for the emancipation of women.

A carnation to all women, honoring them every day. Moreover, as Karl Marx, the founder of scientific  socialism, notes, "great social changes are impossible without feminine upheaval."
