The President of the Republic of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, and the General of the Army and first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of that nation, Raúl Castro Ruz, received Monday night the Foreign Minister of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Jorge Arreaza, on an official visit of the Venezuelan diplomat to the Habana.

During the meeting, the parties ratified the solid bilateral ties, said the Cuban leader through his Twitter account @DiazCanelB.

FM Arreaza highlighted the strengthening of relations between Venezuela and Cuba “as imperialism attacks us”.

Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez and Venezuela’s ambassador to Cuba, Adán Chávez, were also present at the meeting.

The Venezuelan Foreign Minister traveled to the Habana on the occasion of the XVIII Political Council of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America – Treaty of Commerce of the Peoples (ALBA-TCP), which will be held this Tuesday with the participation of representatives of the member countries of this Latin American and Caribbean integration mechanism.

The threats to regional peace and security, and the solidarity and defense of the Bolivarian Revolution in Venezuela, will be among the driving themes of the agenda of this Political Council.
