Venezuela’s President Nicolás Maduro confirmed new COVID-19 cases in the states of Lara, Miranda, Guarico, and in Los Roques archipelago and the Capital District, and informed that the total number of cases rose to 91 in Venezuela.

He explained that these 91  coronavirus cases have been detected in the states of Miranda (39), Caracas (14), La Guaira (9), Aragua (8), Lara (4), Barinas (3), Anzoátegui (2), Apure (2), Falcón (2), Cojedes (1), Portuguesa (1), Táchira (1), Guárico (1), Mérida (1), Monagas (1), Nueva Esparta (1), Zulia (1), and in Los Roques (3).

“We have flattened and controlled the curve. We hope to keep it like this with quarantine,” he stressed.

He explained that since the two first COVID-19 cases were detected on March 13, Venezuela has recorded two peaks on March 16 and March with 16 and 27 cases, respectively.

The Venezuelan president pointed out that out of the 91 confirmed cases, 44 are women and 47 are men. He informed that 15 patients have recovered so far.

He said that social isolation measures will be strengthened in Miranda states and the Capital District to contain the spread of this pandemic.

So far, 421,069 COVID-19 cases have been recorded in the world with 108,328 patients now successfully recovered from the virus.
