Israeli occupation forces demolished on Wednesday, December 5, an elementary school in al-Simiya area, north of the southern West Bank town of al-Sumo’, and south of the city of Hebron, a local activist told the Wafa Palestinian news agency. Mohannad al-Masalma, PR coordinator for the West Bank area south of Hebron, said that an Israeli bulldozer demolished the “al-Tahadi 13” (Challenge 13) school with no prior notice and, before its destruction began, the immediate vicinity was declared a closed military area.

The WFTU is taking part in the UN Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People in Vienna, Austria on November 29th. The WFTU is represented by Petros Petrou member of the WFTU Working Youth Committee in this meeting.

Below his speech:

Dear colleagues,
Brothers and Sisters,

Allow me to convey to you the warmest greetings and International solidarity on behalf of 95 million workers in 130 countries in the five continents who struggle through the lines of the World Federation of Trade Unions for the right of every people to decide freely and democratically on their present and the future. In this Framework, following our fundamental principles which are the guidelines of our class family since 1945, we defend and struggle for the non-negotiable right of the heroic people of Palestine to live in its free and independent state in conditions of peace and prosperity.

29 November is a historic date in the struggles of the Palestinian people. Following a decision by the UN General Assembly in 1977 this day was established as an International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian people.
For decades, the Palestinian people have been fighting for its right to an independent sovereign state.

On the occasion of the International day of Solidarity with the People of Palestine, on November 29th, the WFTU, representing 95 million workers in 130 countries in the five continents, reiterates its stable internationalist support and solidarity with the heroic Palestinian People.

DSA condemns the heaviest Israeli airstrikes in Gaza since 2014, which have killed at least six people and destroyed scores of buildings, including the TV station Al-Aqsa TV. These most recent attacks are part of an escalation of violence that began when a team of Israeli commandos killed seven Hamas members, including a commander, in a clandestine raid in the southern city of Khan Younis on Sunday.

The delegation of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, in the exercise of the Pro Tempore Presidency of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), intervened in the consideration of Item 55 of the Agenda on the “Report of the Special Committee to investigate Israeli practices that affect the human rights of the Palestinian People and other Arab inhabitants of the occupied territories”, developed on Tuesday in the framework of the Fourth Committee of the General Assembly of the United Nations (UN).

The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine calls in an urgent action for the friends of Palestine, movements for justice and liberation and the Palestinian and Arab communities everywhere in the world to stand with Gaza under attack at this critical moment. We issue this call in honor and mourning for our two heroic comrades, Mohammed al-Tatari and Mohammed Odeh, martyred today by Zionist occupation forces who attacked them as they fought for the freedom of their land, Palestine, and all of its people.

This murder at the hands of the colonial forces comes after an attack yesterday, in which Zionist forces sought to invade the Gaza Strip in an undercover operation to kidnap or assassinate leaders of the Palestinian resistance. They killed 7 Palestinians who died fighting to defend their land – but the Palestinian resistance did not let them get away with their crime. The resistance has held fast, fighting heroically against one of the most heavily armed powers in the world and striking powerful blows against the assassins and murderers.

Palestinian brothers and sisters,

The leadership of the World Federation of Trade Unions, who met this week, extends to the heroic Palestinian People and to the Palestinian workers a true, comradely salute. The solidarity of WFTU, our proletarian Internationalism to the struggle of the Palestinian People is based on principles and on values which no one can stop.

Today morning Israel unleashed new air strikes against targets along Gaza Strip, while the Israeli Minister for Defense ordered the closure of the Erez and Kerem Shalom crossing points as well as the  restriction of the Gaza fishing zone from 6 to 3 miles.

On the behalf of 95 million workers in 130 countries all over the world, the WFTU condemns this new escalation of Israeli aggressiveness against the people of Palestine.
