COSCO Dockers New Strike Action after new Serious Accident

 The workers of COSCO in Piraeus started a new strike action on Thursday, April 28 after another worker was seriously injured during the loading off of a ship.

The worker who followed all personal safety regulations, fell down from 12 meters height when a faulty, rusted, railing broke.

The ENEDEP Union of COSCO workers immediately called for a workers’ assembly, and protested at the Maritime Ministry. PAME and many local unions immediately joined COSCO workers in solidarity.

COSCO workers decided strike action till midnight of April 28 and 2day Strike starting on May 1st, International Workers Day. Also, they declared that if till May 6 negotiations with COSCO do not result in a positive proposal for the workers the port will close.
