Yellow TURK IS Confederation continues to play its role: a great disrespect against
the protesting workers
Nakliyat-İş Union organized a massive demonstration at the Istanbul Regional Representative of TURK IS Confederation yesterday with the participation of Uzel Tractor Company Workers and other workers from different workplaces. During the demonstration, the workers left a black wreath on the entry of the representative office.
Ali Rıza Küçükosmanoğlu, Vice President of the WFTU issued a press release during the protest action. He underlined the fact that the representatives of yellow TURK IS Confederation not only pacify their own members but also try to hinder the real class oriented union movement as they did in the examples where they put legal objections against the authorization of Nakliyat-İş Union for collective agreements in some workplaces.
As known, about fifteen years ago, Uzel Makina Workers were betrayed by the yellow Turk Metal Union which is a member of TURK IS Confederation. The Uzel Tractor Company employer fired 2,200 workers without paying their compensations. The yellow Turk Metal preferred to collaborate with the employer instead of struggling for the rights of its members. Nakliyat-İş Union has been leading the struggle of Uzel Makina Workers for a long time although the workers are from a different sector – metal sector.
Yesterday, the representatives of TURK IS Confederation showed their true faces once again by insulting the protesting workers. While the workers were speaking outside, they went out on the balcony of the representative office and scandalously showed their fingers in a humiliating and offensive way.
As Nakliyat-İş Union, we protest and condemn the yellow and collaborator TURK IS Confederation whose role is to be Trojan Horse in the ranks of working class.
