Cyprus: A mass mobilization of PEO for the defense of the collective agreements took place on October 15th, 2022 in Nicosia.

The decision for the mobilization was taken on the 7th of September during the extraordinary Congress of PEO and the decision of the government to issue a decree on the minimum wage. The government has once again chosen sides with its decision on the minimum wage and to serve the interests of employers, ignoring the need to tackle deregulation of labor by establishing a basic framework of minimum rights for non-unionized unprotected workers.

PEO executives during the last period visit the workplaces, on construction sites and factories, in hotels, schools, clinics in all cities, in Nicosia, Larnaca, Limassol, Famagusta, Paphos.

For a decent minimum wage with rights!

For institutional measures to strengthen Collective Agreements!

For measures to protect workers from the ongoing and intensifying wave of price increase in basic consumer goods!

For the full reintroduction of Automatic Cost of Living Indexation for all workers.
