Indonesia: Protests against the dismissal of 99 workers of PT Gorom Kencana

A few months ago, at least 99 workers of PT. Gorom Kencana who were residing in the City of Surabaya, East Java Province of Indonesia were dismissed on the grounds of having finished their contract, despite that these workers have been working for decades. PT.Gorom Kencana is a company repackaging spices: nutmeg, cinnamon, pepper, cloves, mace for export to several countries: India, Thailand, Chile, China, Europe under the brand Cloves, and Long Papper. The workers have protested and complained to the Government of the Manpower Office, the Mayor, the Governor, the Regional People’s Representative Council, and also the Ministry of Manpower. The World Federation of Trade Unions, representing 105 million workers from 130 countries of the 5 continents expresses its support and solidarity with the workers of PT. Gorom Kencana and demand the immediate reinstatement of all dismissed workers.
